Certo dia um professor ateu desafiou seus alunos com a seguinte pergunta:
"Deus fez tudo o que existe?"

Um estudante respondeu corajosamente: "Sim, fez!"

"Deus fez tudo, mesmo?" Insistiu o professor.

"Sim, professor" respondeu o jovem.

O professor replicou: "Se Deus fez todas as coisas, então Deus fez o mal,pois o mal existe. E, considerando-se que nossas ações são um reflexo de nós mesmos, e somos a imagem e semelhança de Deus, então Deus é o mal.

O estudante calou-se diante de tal afirmativa e o professor ficou feliz por haver provado uma vez mais que a fé era um mito.

Outro estudante levantou sua mão e disse: "Posso lhe fazer uma pergunta, professor?"

"Sem dúvida", respondeu-lhe o professor.

O jovem ficou de pé e perguntou: "Professor, o frio existe?"

"Mas que pergunta é essa? Claro que existe, você por acaso nunca sentiu frio?"

O rapaz respondeu: "Na verdade, professor, o frio não existe. Eu não sou especialista no assunto, mas, segundo as leis da física, o que consideramos frio é, na realidade, ausência de calor. Todo corpo ou objeto pode ser estudado quando tem ou transmite energia, mas é o calor e não o frio que faz com que tal corpo tenha ou transmita energia. O zero absoluto é a ausência total e absoluta de calor, todos os corpos ficam inertes, incapazes de reagir, mas o frio não existe. Criamos esse termo para descrever como nos sentimos quando nos falta o calor."

E a escuridão, existe?" Continuou o estudante.

O professor respondeu: "Mas é claro que sim."

"Novamente o senhor se engana, a escuridão tampouco existe. A escuridão é, na verdade, a ausência da luz. Podemos estudar a luz, mas a escuridão não. O prisma de Newton decompõe a luz branca nas várias cores de que se compõe, com seus diferentes comprimentos de onda. A escuridão não. Um simples raio de luz rasga as trevas e ilumina a superfície que a luz toca. Como se faz para determinar quão escuro está um determinado local do espaço? Apenas com base na quantidade de luz presente nesse local, não é mesmo? Escuridão é um termo que o homem criou para descrever o que acontece quando não há luz presente."

Finalmente, o jovem estudante perguntou ao professor: "Diga, professor, o mal existe?"

Ele respondeu: "Claro que existe. Como eu disse no início da aula, vemos roubos, crimes e violência diariamente em todas as partes do mundo, essas coisas são o mal."

Então o estudante disse: "O mal não existe, professor, ou, pelo menos, não,existe por si só. O mal é simplesmente a ausência do bem. O mal, como acontece com o frio e o calor, é um termo que o homem criou para descrever essa ausência do bem. Assim sendo, Deus não criou o mal. Deus criou o amor, a fé, que existem como existe a luz e o calor. Já o mal é resultado da falta de Deus nos corações. É como o frio que surge quando não há calor, ou a escuridão que acontece quando não há luz."

Diante da lógica da argumentação do aluno, o professor se calou, pensativo.

O mal não tem vida própria, é apenas a ausência do bem.
Onde o bem se faz presente o mal bate em retirada.
Já o amor é de essência divina, e está presente nos corações de todos os homens, mesmo que em estado latente, esperando a oportunidade de germinar, crescer e florescer.

Paz e Luz
 

A university teacher once defied his students with this question. Did God create everything that exists ? A student bravely answered, yes, he did ! The teacher said, God created everything ? Yes, Sir, replied the student. The teacher then said, "If God created everything, he then also created evil since evil exists and that following the principle that says that our works define what we are, then God is not goodness." The student stayed silent before such an answer. The teacher was completely proud of himself.

Another student raised his hand and said, "May i ask you a question Sir ? " Of course, said the teacher. The student replied : "Sir, does cold exist ?". "What kind of question is that, of course cold exists, you have never been cold ?" replied the teacher. To that, the young man said: "In fact Sir, cold does not exist. According to the law of physics, what we consider as cold, is in reality the absence of heat. Every being, every object transmits energy. The absolute zero (-460°F) is the total absence of heat; all matter becomes inert and incapable of reacting at such a temperature. Therefore, cold does not exist. We have created that word to describe what we feel when we do not feel any heat. The student continued.

« Sir, does obscurity exist ? » The teacher replied: "Of course it exists !" The student said: "No Sir, you are wrong again, obscurity does not exist either. Obscurity is in reality the absence of Light. We can study light, but never obscurity. In fact, we can use Newton's prism to fragment white light in many colours and study the diverse wave lengths of each color. You cannot measure obscurity. A simple ray of light can make irrupton in a world of obscurity and enligthen it instantly. How can you know the space that obscurity occupies ? You measure the quantity of light that is present. Isn't that true ? Obscurity is only a term used by men to describe what happens when light is not there."

Finally, the young man asked the teacher, " Sir, does evil exist ?". Now uncertain, the teacher replied: " Of course as I've already said. We see it everyday. It is in the daily exemples of the inhumanity of men towards men. It is in the multitude of crimes and violence everywhere in the world. Those manifestations are nothing but evil ! "

The student replied, "evil does not exist, or at least, it does not exist by itself. Evil is simply the absence of God. It is like obscurity and cold, a word that men have created to describe the absence of God. God did not create evil. Evil is not like faith, or love that exists as light and heat do. Evil is the result of what happens when men does not have the love of God in his heart. It is like the cold that comes when there is no heat, or obscurity that comes when there is no light."
